Busy Day Today

Last night I did check off a two for one on my UFO list. I finished the peacock bag. No not full of peacocks, how beautiful would hat be? I did count this bag as the gift bag for the garment I had made.

Here is the pocket I sewed on to the lining, had to see one the bag is sewn together.

I chipped away a bit more on my Rainbow quilt. As I work I thought I might tie this with iridescent ribbon, making it a comforter.. I just spent a few minutes cutting the squares in half, so the next time, I’ll spend the 10 minutes pressing them open into HSTs

This morning as I listed and watched Pat Sloan's challenge video, I pressed the blue squares for the Rainbow quilt. Ill trim them up tomorrow. THe pattern plan is ten blocks over two days, I am speding ten minutes each day to chip away at the project.

The challenge today, if you clicked on the link and watched the video you know it is to pick out a panel. Here are two of mine, that I picked up last year, such a good idea to use practice free motion quilting on a panel.

Each year the Northern Lights Machine Quilting Guild(NLMQG) has an orphan block swap, after the swap me make an item that we will bring back in October and we have a small auction with members and guest. The money raised is used to fill stockings, that we also make, that are donated to a shelter during the holidays. I had this orphan block leftover from a March 2017 monthly Minnesota quilters.

I decided to make it into a pillow. I made the pilow form with muslin, a simple square cut one inch larger than my pillow cover. Sounds backwards, but that is because filling it will bring the edges in making it smaller and perfect for the pillow cover.

I used batting trimmed off of a quilt. I pulled apart to making it all fluff again. This is a good activity while watching TV it takes a couple of evenings you really want it soft and poofy, Youcan just buy fiber fill, but I'm always looking for ways to use these remenants up. The stitching on the right side where I close it up does not need to be hidden as it is going to be in the pillow cover.

Here are steps to putting the pillow inside with that overlap closure on the pillow cover.
