Grommets and Wheel Bearings

I have gotten side tracked and not posted, for a while, but have met some of my goals for previouse  weeks.  One was to from a couple of weeks or maybe a month or two ago was to get grommets to finish the baskets,
 I had cut these out a few years ago and finally put them together, not a hard, not too time consuming project but one that was easy to procrastinate on. YOu can see tha flat "basket" parts stacked, and in the background I made a small cube holder for coasters and mugrugs, in the foreground are coasters and napkins from the same fabric line. 

 The pattern[I used was for bowl covers, Simplicity 1236; which I had made years ago and the baskets I've made here.


Here are the baskets stacked and nestled held as baskets by the ribbon; so now they are no longer simple flat covered pieces of stablizer. I had enough of this fabric from the same line to make three bags to gift, carry and store the baskets in. It also haas a side pocket if needed.

During this time I had heard a bad sound from the car so had to drop it for repairs. My car needed the wheel bearing replaced, while it was in had them change the transmission fluid along. I was really happy when it came in $25 under the estimate. Thank you Dave's Transmission.  Things that need to be done that we don't always think about.

Last night I finished this small piece. Well semi finished, I need to decide if I want to quilt it or make it as a porch flag. Why did I make this? In Italy the people are putting rainbows I. Their windows, hanging them from balconies. As  Pat Sloan said, “This is to let their neighbors and friends know they are ok. And to give hope during this crazy pandemic. Aurifil asked some of us to recreate the Rainbow banners with the ANDRÀ TUTTO BENE messages of hope. This roughly translates in English to 'Everything will be Okay'.. a message of hope.” I had already communicated with those I know in Italy, sadden by the losses, and was grateful those few who did not have losses in their immediate families. I too look for the rainbow in this storm of a pandemic.

High Five UFOs

I am prioritizing what I see in front of me. I have a my first practice piece of LAQ and will put a binding on that today, I decided to just do a roll over binding as there was plenty of fabric within the backing, and this has a wool batting just going to use it across the foot of the bed to warm up are toes in the minnesota winters. I had taken a class at McTavish Quilting Studio , great experience. I learned how to use the Long Arm Quilting machines, was able to quilt a few quilts. I did learn doing the quilting is not for me, based on my personal physical situation. So if you are interested in buying a LAQ machine, this is a great way to find out if this is the investment for you.  It really was such an enjoyable experience, and working with Karen Mc Tavish and the other quilters was a joy. My next project on my list is to make a  gift bag to put a garment into, Also, I   bag with peacock fabric I cut out ages ago, but its right here by my side...

In a Week,

It’s been a while, but I've gotten a few things done. With Covid-19 and staying home I’ve been digging through projects giving a few away for others to finish up, or turn into other projects. Mostly, I have been finishing up some that were halted mid-stream. Some of these projects like a pack that fell out of the canoe in the rapids, others accidently dropped along the trail, some thrown overboard because an emergency popped up. During the Safe in Place orders around the world. I have had time to look back down the trail, and pick up the debris of fiber projects. Sorting to give, sorting to repurpose, sorting to complete, sorting to realize some stuff no body will do anything with it and just be the one to throw the supplies away. Throwing it away, if you are not an artist or crafter then you probably have a hard time understanding and label the aforementioned as hoarders.
