I finally Finished this quilt top

Image
I finally Finished this Vintage Compass quilt top, Pattern by  Judy Neimeyer. It really did not take many days to do,but there were a lot of days in between the days I worked on it. I was grateful for the teacher who taught the class, Jodie Madison . he really makes the whole process simple.  Now back to my Kelp scarf

Bindings, my nemesis

Image
I made the quilt with pattern Santa Fe by Villa Rosa Designs and fabrics from HannahJohnson Fabrics , had it quilted at Quarry Quilt and Yarn . The pattern was super easy, supplies and quilting are beautiful, but I have to say, bindings are my nemesis. This should have been a simple fold over and sew down, but the backing was Minky, which is stretchy. I used a zigzag stitch, but its not completely straight, no pun intended. Babies never complain about a quilt though so it ok. Hopefully it will bring years of happiness and love. Sorry it looks kitty wampass, I need a better way to photograph quilts

Finally

Image
I started this baby sweater in in June of 2019 I finished the knitting part by the end of June. can you beleieve it took me July, AUgust, September and the first week and half of October to put find and put the 8 buttons on? Well it is finally finished and I am so grateful.  It is a washable wool so it should be toasty as winter approaches. Now on to the rest of my list of UFO(UnFinished Projects)

New bag for knitting projects

Image
I get frustrated when I try to knit and i have my yarn in a bag and the ball pops out of the bag and comes unrolled every where. I made this the other day to keep small projects to work in in the car.  Since I still had a bit of fabric, so I wanted a bag for my knitting when I’m in the car, as passenger of course. It is also time to start knitying red hats for my February donation to newborns at St Luke’s Hospital. This is for the Little Hats, Big Hearts™   the reason for the red hat program is t his tiny pop of red helps raise awareness about congenital heart defects.   The bag has a Zipper acaross the top opening as well as a pocket across the front, which I pouched a little bit so that it would have a bit more space to put odds and ends, maybe keep my wallet seperate from my knitting.   On the other side I put a reenforced pocket large enough to hold my cell phone and snippers. The bag is perfect for a skein of yarn and set of needles.

Grommets and Wheel Bearings

Image
I have gotten side tracked and not posted, for a while, but have met some of my goals for previouse  weeks.  One was to from a couple of weeks or maybe a month or two ago was to get grommets to finish the baskets,   I had cut these out a few years ago and finally put them together, not a hard, not too time consuming project but one that was easy to procrastinate on. YOu can see tha flat "basket" parts stacked, and in the background I made a small cube holder for coasters and mugrugs, in the foreground are coasters and napkins from the same fabric line.   The pattern[I used was for bowl covers, Simplicity 1236; which I had made years ago and the baskets I've made here. Here are the baskets stacked and nestled held as baskets by the ribbon; so now they are no longer simple flat covered pieces of stablizer. I had enough of this fabric from the same line to make three bags to gift, carry and store the baskets in. It also haas a side pocket if needed. Dur...
